Enhanced low-temperature activity of toluene combustion over Ce-modified Co3O4 catalyst by weakening Co−O strength

In this study, a series of Ce-modified Co3O4 catalysts were prepared by co-precipitation. The influence Ce/(Ce + Co) ratio on the catalyst microstructure and catalytic oxidation performance toluene systematically investigated. results showed that introduction Ce lead to great changes in structure with smaller crystallite size larger specific surface area catalyst. More importantly, dopant can significantly weaken Co–O bond strength enhance activity oxygen species, thus improving degradation efficiency toluene. Due weakest strength, abundant vacancy, strongest reducibility Co3+, CoCe0.05Ox exhibited best (T90 = 225 °C). addition, presented good stability repeatability during 30 h durability test under water vapor.
